With the excess of television shows on Netflix, it is sometimes difficult to pick a good show to get hooked on. With that being said, I thought it would be cool to make a "Top 5 Shows to Binge Watch on Netflix" to help those who can't make their minds up about what to watch. While creating this list, I asked myself the following questions:

Is the show's premise interesting?
A good show has to have an interesting and engaging plot.

Does the show stay good?
For a show to be binge-worthy, it must sustain it's charm for the majority of its episodes.

Does the show have interesting/funny/dynamic characters?
Characters make or break a television show. No one wants to watch static characters interact with other static characters. For a show to be worth watching, its characters should be interesting or, when applicable, funny.

Mad Men

Mad Men is interesting, has dynamic characters, and remains good throughout all of its seasons. The show takes places in the 1960's and tells the story of the enigmatic ad-man Don Draper. Between the costumes, character interactions, and Don Draper's intrigue, Mad Men is a tough show to stop watching.

If you love Zach Braff as much as I do, then Scrubs is the show for you. The show follows medical intern J.D. (Braff) throughout his career at Sacred Heart Hospital. Scrubs is the perfect blend of drama and comedy. It's ability to walk the "dramedy" tightrope is what makes it binge-worthy. Also, almost every character in the show brings something to the table. It should be noted that the show's final season is not very good. Stop at season 8.

How I Met Your Mother

How I Met Your Mother tells the story of Ted Mosby and his quest to find true love in New York City. HIMYM is charming, funny, and changes up its storytelling so often that it's a tough show to get sick of. Like Scrubs, the show provides both drama and comedy. The relationships between all of the main characters are fun to watch evolve over the course of the show's runtime. HIMYM ran for nine seasons, so it's got enough content to keep you busy for a while.

Parks & Recreation

It's difficult to explain this show's hilarity in a small blurb. Though season one is forgettable, the show finds its identity in season two and never looks back. Parks and Recreation sheds light on the happenings at a parks and recreation office in Pawnee, Indiana and is filmed in a documentary-style format (like The Office). The show stars Amy Poehler, Nick Offerman, Chris Pratt, Aziz Ansari, Aubrey Plaza, and has a staggeringly awesome list of supporting and guest actors. Parks and Recreation has charm, humor, and is awfully hard to stop watching.

Breaking Bad

If you haven't seen Breaking Bad, odds are that you've been told to watch it so many times that you're starting to get annoyed. Breaking Bad is worth all of the hype and is one of the best, most suspenseful, shows I've ever seen. Watching chemist-teacher turned meth-maker Walter White descend into personal darkness is hard to stop watching. The writing in Breaking Bad is some of the best and the character development is otherworldly. Breaking Bad is so suspenseful that you won't be able to watch less than two episodes per sitting. As you begin watching the show, you'll be glad you didn't have to wait a week between episodes. Start now and enjoy.
